ILLINOIS ACTION ALERT: Protect Electronic Privacy

Two bills related to electronic privacy rights protection have moved forward to the Senate Assignments Committee.


HB2134 (HB2134) would protect electronic communications by barring law enforcement from obtaining location information from a person without a warrant based upon probable cause, expanding the Freedom From Location Surveillance Act to include historical data.

HB3358 (HB3358) creates the Data Transparency and Privacy Act. It would protect data privacy from unlawful invasions by informing consumers of how their personal information is used by third parties.


PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS TO SUPPORT THESE BILLS:


1. Call the members of the Senate Criminal Law Committee . Be firm but respectful. Strongly encourage them to vote YES on HB2134 and move the bill forward. Ask them to pass your message along and thank them.
